Still on the Books (back)

Still on the Books pokes fun at the idea that we can manage to withdraw out-of-date books from our children’s libraries but we can’t seem to repeal ridiculous laws that remain “on the books” in most states. The piece is comprised of book covers from 1950s children’s books on individual states on which I have scrawled current laws. While both enjoying the absurdity of government inefficiency and marveling at the fact that any of these laws were even written, I made the piece as a celebration of the beauty of the used, stamped and scarred book.
